Latin Name: Melilotus officinalis
Family: Leguminosae

Melilot is used in human herbal medicine for varicose veins and haemorrhoids. It should not be used by those taking anticoagulents. The herb should be used immediately or dried if harvested from the wild as it is toxic if spolied.

Constituents: Flavanoids, courmarins, tannins, volatile oil.

Actions: Mildly sedative and antispasmodic.
