Latin Name: Geum Urbanum
Family: Rosaceae
Height: 60cm

Dark green leaves, yellow petals surround a brown centre. Appears in spring, flowering later in the year. Seed heads consist of a ball of seeds with their long tails radiating outwards giving a spiky appearance.

Used by human herbalists for a variety of intestinal disturbances and conditions affecting the mucus membrane of the mouth and throat.

Constituents: Essential oils with gein and eugenol; tannins; bitter principle; flavone; resin; organic acids..

Actions:  Astringent, styptic, diaphoretic, aromatic.
