Latin Name: Senecio vulgaris
Family: Asteraceae
Height: 40cm

Mainly used to stimulate the moult in rabbits. Has a laxative effect so use sparingly.

Make sure you have the right plant, related species such as ragwort are toxic!

Constituents: Chemically, Groundsel contains senecin and seniocine. The juice is slightly acrid, but emollient.

Actions: Diaphoretic, antiscorbutic, purgative, diuretic, anthelmintic
